Shabbat Worship is held every Friday evening. Our Shabbat worship & Torah Study are always open to the public. Everyone is welcome and we encourage individuals and groups to visit and participate.

Erev Shabbat Worship Friday Evenings at 6:00 PM

Friday evening Erev Shabbat Worship is conducted in our historic main sanctuary and serve as our main worship service at Temple Emanuel. Worship is led out of our Movement (Union of for Reform Judaism) prayer book Mishkan T'filah and is a mixture of Hebrew and English liturgy as well as traditional and contemporary music (organ & guitar).

First Friday Folk Celebration of Shabbat

On the first Friday of the month, from August thru June, we offer our Folk Celebration for Shabbat. On Folk Shabbat Friday we give our organ the evening off and experience an engaging and inspiring contemporary Shabbat service using guitars, flutes and clarintes.

Shabbat Morning Meditation & Torah Study Saturday Mornings at 8:00 AM

Until Rabbi Taub returns from medical leave, please contact the Temple Office (409) 832-6131 to confirm there will be Shabbat Meditation & Torah Study that week.

Shabbat Morning Meditation & Torah Study are held in our Kol Israel Chapel and Temple Library respectively located in our Administration Building next to the Sanctuary building on Forrest Street. Shabbat morning from 8:00 - 8:30 AM we open the Kol Israel Chapel to all and provide an opportunity for personal prayer & meditation. Prayer books (both Concervative Movement and Reform Movement prayer books) are provided. Beginning at 8:30 AM Rabbi Taub leads a stimulating and engaging study of the weekly Torah portion in our Temple Library (down the hall from our Chapel). Shabbat Morning at Temple Emanuel is open to anyone and everyone who wishes to join us for pray & study. Our Shabbat Morning prayer & study generally conclude by 10:30 AM.
